Sharp Knott - Lake District Walk

The intention today was to visit the final three tops that would complete Birkett's Loweswater Fells, things did not go to plan.

Route: Felldyke - Cogra Moss - Sharp Knott (380) - Blake Fell - High Pen - Low Pen - Felldyke
Distance: 6 miles Ascent: 415 metres Time Taken: 4 hours 25 mins
Terrain: Good tracks.

Crossing in front of Cogra Moss it looked like we might be in for pleasant day.
Nestling below Blake Fell is the summit of Sharp Knott, which should have been the third summit we visited today.
Instead it ended up being the first summit of the day.
When we attempted to make our way across to Owsen Fell we had a rather unpleasant encounter with a local
and somewhat notorious farmer so we had to revert to plan B and miss it out.
Looking down from Sharp Knott we could also see High Hows, our intended first summit of the day.
Following Birkett's instructions had proved to be the wrong move as the way was blocked by barbed wire.
Although we could see the summit was only a few yards away it remained out of reach.
Looking towards Blake Fell. We planned on skirting round the fell and missing out the summit
but soon abandoned that plan and instead cut back across the front to rejoin the path from Sharp Knott to the summit.
As the summit shelter was occupied and it was somewhat breezy on the summit of Blake Fell we paused briefly to look across to Knock Murton before heading down the other side in search of a warmer lunch spot.
The clouds were getting blacker as we descended Blake Fell, time to head downhill before the rain started.
Looking in the opposite direction things don't look quite so bleak.
Ten minutes later as we sat on High Pen the picture looked a bit different and as we made our way down Low Pen the rain finally arrived and it was time to put the waterproofs on.
